Kobun Chino Otogawa on Zazen

 

Kobun once ended a lecture at San Francisco Zen Center with the statement, "you know, sometimes zazen gets up and walks around!" Kobun spoke to remind everyone that zazen has to do with the witness of experience as volition is relinquished, and the witness of experience may sit, or rise, or even walk around.
